Authentication and onboarding
I own login and onboarding for LegalShield’s member platform. I instrumented a login funnel nothing measured and merged two divergent login flows into one, taking login success from 40% to 75%. I also redesigned onboarding end to end, mobile included.
Design systems
I rebuilt LegalShield’s component library on Radix primitives, then led our design-system monorepo from alpha to stable in a quarter. Retiring the framework it replaced cut the login bundle by 40% and nearly doubled the mobile Lighthouse performance score.
AI enablement
I’m one of the leads behind LegalShield’s move to AI-assisted development, which went from nothing to everyday practice across our engineering teams in six months. I built the Claude Code tooling for our ticket-to-release lifecycle, published it so other squads adopt it on their own, and taught the practice through a guild session and a playbook. Soft guardrails, review policies and domain rules kept where agents can read them, held quality steady as PRs per engineer per month rose 138%.
Tech leadership
I tech-lead a team of four, where engineers run whole epics rather than picking up tickets, and I mentored a Software Engineer I through her promotion to SE II. Across the org, I designed risk-tiered code review, enforced in CI, so low-risk changes need one approval and critical ones keep two.
Mobile apps
At McKee Foods, I was lead designer and frontend engineer for the iOS app distributors use to run their businesses, and built a React Native component library shared across our field-sales apps. At Owls Nest, I built a performance-evaluation app for Chick-fil-A restaurants.
E-commerce
I took over LegalShield’s checkout migration a month behind schedule and designed an abstraction layer that let it ship incrementally, unblocking offers and discounts. At Owls Nest, I built the customer-facing storefront for an Icelandic curtain-and-blinds startup.
Business systems
At McKee Foods, I built corporate sales applications and automated reporting pipelines. Later, I built a custom ERP for the same Icelandic startup and ran its product roadmap.
UX research and design
At McKee Foods, I set up the UX research practice for our field-sales products. I shadowed distributors through their in-store workflows, designed to iOS conventions because many were new to smartphones, and used a 1,000-user survey to settle details like where the menu button goes for fast order entry.

Principal Software Engineer and Tech Lead at LegalShield (PPLSI)
2023 to now
Member-facing account management platform, authentication, and onboarding. Tech lead for a team of four, and one of the leads shaping architecture and AI-engineering practice across the org.
- Traced a spike in failed membership activations, which others were chasing through backend systems, to Google ranking the activation URL above the login page. Fixing the SEO ended it.
- Redesigned the authentication and account flows, reducing online cancellations.
- Designed risk-tiered code review, enforced in CI through tier-mapped CODEOWNERS: one approval on low-risk paths, two on critical ones.
- Pushed for domain rules to live in the code and in agent instruction files, where AI tools can read them, after a plausible AI review suggestion caused a production incident.
- Engineers on my team run whole epics rather than individual tickets. I mentored a Software Engineer I through her promotion to SE II.
- Cut the end-to-end suite from 60 minutes to 11 with no loss of coverage, and CI wall-clock time by 48%.
Senior Software Engineer at LegalShield (PPLSI)
2021 to 2023
- Led the onboarding redesign and rebuilt the component library on Radix primitives.
- Integrated Storybook so components render in isolation, with no auth or test accounts needed. QA cycles got shorter, and edge states became easy to test and to demo to designers.
- Took over the checkout V1-to-V2 migration a month behind schedule. An abstraction layer mapped both API versions onto one React data context, so it shipped incrementally. Delivered in a month, unblocking offers and discounts.
- Rebuilt the mobile home-page navigation with card links that mirror the desktop layout. Mobile clickthrough to key pages rose 50%, measured in GA4.

2019 to 2021
- Shipped a React Native performance-evaluation app for Chick-fil-A restaurants, iterating on user feedback under tight client timelines.
- Built a custom ERP in Flutter for an Icelandic curtain-and-blinds startup, plus their customer-facing storefront in Next.js, and ran the product roadmap.
